Our dental practice is pleased to offer Mercury Filling Removal. Our mercury amalgam removal service is designed to remove toxic dental material including mercury amalgam and other fillings, crowns, or bridges that are biologically incompatible with the patient while keeping the patient comfortable and safe during the removal process.
If you have older silver-mercury fillings, we can often replace them with natural-looking modern materials to prevent fractures. This improvement makes a big difference aesthetically, but more importantly, it can have a positive impact on your health.
Mercury from fillings has been proven to suppress the immune system. Mercury escapes from the filling in the form of a vapor that is absorbed directly into the brain; it is absorbed at a rate of 80% into the lungs and arterial blood. This toxic vapor escapes constantly from fillings, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The rate of vaporization increases when the fillings are stimulated by hot liquids, chewing and even brushing your teeth. Mercury that leaks from the fillings is also stored pre-natally in a pregnant woman’s developing fetus and post-natally in the mother’s breast milk.
If you have old or new mercury fillings, you should know that you may not necessarily experience any symptoms. But because mercury toxicity is a cumulative toxicity and as such, can store itself in many tissues of the body for years, it is possible that your fillings may be the cause of chronic issues that have affected you for years.
Amalgam fillings and mercury is a hot topic. Amalgam not only contains mercury but also contains silver, tin, copper and zinc. The Oregon Health Department requires that all dental offices in Oregon have a mercury separation device to collect all mercury in our suction devices.
It seems the only place we can place amalgam is in the mouth, which is one reason why we haven’t placed amalgam fillings in over ten years. Besides the health concerns, amalgam requires an internal design in the tooth that is the leading cause of fractured teeth.
Most amalgams will eventually become a crown. We find that by leaving amalgams in place, one will usually end up needing more aggressive dentistry in the future. With mercury-free fillings, we give our patients better treatment, better protection, and better health in Bend, Oregon.
